Examination System
Course Registration
Registration for courses is done at the beginning of each semester. Since registration is a very important procedural part of the credit system, it is essential that all students present themselves at the college. In case of illness or circumstances beyond one’s control, the student must inform the Principal or his deputy.

Course and Class Requirements

The academic year is divided into two semesters of 15 weeks each.

The minimum number of class hours for a course in a semester is approximately 45.

The concerned teacher may schedule additional sessions for a course.

Each student is required to attend all classes of the course registered and admitted to and held during the semester. Unexcused absences many result in reducing the course grade of the student, award of Not Qualified (NQ) grade or in even dismissal of the student.

Evaluation System
A system of continuous evaluation will be followed by an end-semester examination. The continuous evaluation is administered through tests, assignments, tutorials, and projects, which the student is required to do during the semester. The purpose of continuous evaluation is to monitor a student’s comprehension of the subject and to assess the degree of assimilation of course material.

Test, Assignment and Projects

Students are given surprise quizzes and modular tests during the sessions. In addition, assignments and projects form an integral part of the course. Students are required to work on the theoretical part of these assignment and projects in groups, and work on the problems during scheduled tutorial/laboratory sessions. Group/Laboratory assignments and projects are designed to strengthen concepts taught in the class and to ensure a more complete grasp of the subject being taught.

Tutorials are conducted in groups, and are aimed at encouraging students’ teamwork. They are also expected to enhance independent study and find solutions to problems related to the subject taught in the class.

Assignments, projects, and tutorials are evaluated. The evaluation criteria also includes an individual viva of each student. These evaluations form part of the overall evaluation of the student for the course.

External Examination

The University shall conduct the external examination and it shall carries 50% weight age of the total grades. Students need to secure at least 45% marks in each subject to be eligible for grading. Grades are assigned using a relative grading system for students once they have secured the thresh-hold marks of 45%.

A student should re-appear in the external examination of that course if he/she has received a F grade in it. Retaking a course in which a student has earned a “D” grade is optional. However, the student retains his or her original grades obtained in the internal Assessment.
The grade earned on the retake will be substituted for the grade earned first time the course was taken.

Re-Check and Re-Evaluation

Considering the need to maintain transparency in examination, the University has a provision of re-checking and re-totalling of semester-end examination answer scripts. The charges for such facility will be refunded to the students in case there is a change in the grades.

Degree Requirements

Passing of all courses individually with at least D grade in each course and maintaining an overall CGPA of 2.0 is the minimum requirement for the award of the degree.

Division Equivalence
Students securing CGPA in between 2.5 and 3.00 will be considered as second division and students securing more than 3.00 CGPA will be considered and first division.

Degree with Distinction
Students securing CGPA 3.60 and above shall be deemed to have achieved distinction grades.

Dean's List
Students securing CGPA 3.70 and above qualify for the Dean's list.

Attendance
A minimum attendance of 85% is required to be eligible to appear in examination conducted by the University. It is very important that students take lectures regularly since any laxity in attendance will ultimately reflect upon student’s performance. Absence on medical/compassionate grounds may be considered on a case to – case basis.
